 Questo è un grande disco di jazz? Ma non lo so, non so niente, io. È un disco che mi procura gioia quando lo ascolto, questo so. Ruby Braff è un musicista eccelso e al di là degli stili, uno dei più poetici virtuosi di tromba del jazz; George Barnes – che si dice sia stato il primo a mai suonare una chitarra elettrica – in questo quartetto è alla sua altezza, ed è dire molto.

  Ruby Braff è nel mio cuore e in quello di tanti, spero, come uno dei più grandi trombettisti (cornettisti) di tutti i tempi, forse già lo sai, se no rovista nei nomi qui a destra; il quartetto che a lungo ebbe con due chitarre e due fuoriclasse come George Barnes e soprattutto Michael Moore, contrabbassista sublime, è per me la perfezione del mainstream oltre il mainstream stesso, proprio come lo stile di Ruby.
